Town Hall Meetings Set: The Standard

Want to know all about the ins and outs of The Standard, but didn't know where to start. Here is the opportunity to learn all about the benefits of The Standard.

A few facts to know:

  • You must be a FCEA/CTA dues paying member to qualify for this benefit.

    • If you don't have this benefit, know that there is no other disability insurance for a teacher, unless you have coverage through a private company like AFLAC disability insurance. You do not pay into social security or State/Federal insurance.

  • When you sign up, you will be eligible the month after.

    • Example: You sign up October 25th, you will be covered on November 1st.

  • You must use your sick days before this benefits starts. There are some other conditions as well, but you can learn about those at the meeting.

  • Open Enrollment DOES NOT happen every year. I know it seems like it does, but the last few years have been a fluke. FCEA will probably not see another one for a few years. Without Open Enrollment, you need a medical exam to join. During this time, you don't.

  • If you are a new teacher this year, you have 270 days to join from your first day of employment.

The Town Hall Meetings dates are as follows:

  • November 13th, starting at 4.

  • December 5th, starting at 4.

The links to the meeting will be sent out through all out communications: Action Network, Weekly Newsletters, and Facebook. The link will be posted as soon as our rep, Suzanne Riley, creates it. Stay Posted!
